Lauren & Karl, April 2012
This piece was made for friends Lauren and Karl. It
represents the park where Lauren and Karl Met. In true Chicago fashion, the
park sits where three streets cross: West Diversey Parkway, North Lakeview
Avenue, and North Cannon Drive.
Starting in the top left sits the Jefferson
statue, glittering in golds and looking out on Chicago skyline buildings that
bounce on the shoreline. Earthy tones of greenery overtake the bottom of the
piece and climb up to the top right showing off the beauty of the nature of the
park where they met. The base of the piece is mirror glass. The mirror shines
through and gives the piece one more layer of depth as the foliage climbs from
the bottom left to the top right.
