The Kiss ReMix, 2009

The Kiss ReMix, 2009

Inspired by friends, Jenny and Eric, and one of Jenny’s favorite painting’s (Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss)! The Kiss ReMix is a glass interpretation of Gustav Klimt’s famous painting, The Kiss (original Der Kuss). A wedding present for my two fabulous dear friends, Jenny and Eric!

The four panels highlight the shapes and cloak of the man as you slide down the left side of the piece. The woman’s garment and veil are the concentration in the bottom right panel, and their embrace is highlighted in the top right panel where faces meet. The panels are accented with copper paint on the inside edges, and gold on the outside. If you search closely in the piece you will find gold splattered glass bits in the man’s cloak from Jenny and I’s travels to Ravenna, Italy, home of some of the most beautiful mosaic bath houses and churches in the world.

[Stained glass and grout on wood, 4 panels, 12in x 14in each]

Collide, 2009

Collide, 2009

A wedding present for my friends Ashlee and Bryan, Collide 2009 reflects a deep color palette. The abstract image was created with the base of simple color theory, warm and cool colors colliding with each other, the warmer colors shooting down from the top left into a swirling blue base of deep colors, celebrating Ashlee and Bryan’s union and happiness. Beautiful People, 2009

Beautiful People, 2009
This piece was made with the idea of people’s different qualities enhancing their individual beauty, along with the beauty of human interaction. If you travel from left to right through the piece, colors are grouped together, creating profiles of figure heads; these figures facing and looking different ways to interact and intertwine with each other.
Inspired by a friend who loves and appreciates all types of beauty.

Midnight Run in the City, 2009

Midnight Run in the City, 2009
This piece is made up of three different types of mirror: regular and cracked mirror, water mirror, and crackled mirror glass. The idea behind it is to take your eye from the top left corner and run through the piece, and as a runner glance back and see a faint city sky line blurred and sparkling. Blue Eyed Boy & Hello Gorgeous

Blue Eyed Boy, 2009 & Hello Gorgeous, 2009
These two pieces were designed together, but made to stand alone as well.

Blue Eyed Boy, 2009
Blue Eyed Boy was made with the idea of a male profile picture. The abstract eye pops as he looks out through the blue mirror glass. You can follow the silver down and around as it frames the side of his face and neck. [Stained glass grouted on wood, 24in. x 24 in.]
Hello Gorgeous, 2009
Oh, hello! To complete the diptych, Hello Gorgeous starts on the left with fiery, flowing locks across one side of her abstract face. The orange glass pops for concentration as she stares out… Her eyelashes lead to the side of her face as it curves down and around her Venus neck. [Stained glass grouted on wood, 24in. x 24 in.]

Rhyme or Reason?

Rhyme or Reason?, 2009
An abstraction of whose relationship? There’s two figures that play off of each other…can you see them? The male figure is on the right, represented predominantly by greens. The side profile looks across through the shiny blue mirror glass. Now focusing on the female figure in reds, her hair flows down the left side, her face framed in red, she leans back with her arm stretched across, pushing or pulling? Holding back or generating energy from the male? [Stained glass grouted on wood, 42in. x 24 in.]

Bear Clouds and Blue City Streets

Bear Clouds and Blue City Streets, 2009
Bear Clouds and Blue City Streets...reminds you of the Chicago Bears right? :) From a layout perspective the orange glass pops so much against the blue paint I thought it would give another dimension to the sky. This piece was made for a personal residence, and was designed to rest against a red wall. [Stained glass and acrylic paint on wood, 42in. x 24 in.]

Rolling Out the City Carpet

Rolling Out the City Carpet, 2009
This piece was custom designed for the silent auction at Snowball 2009, a Chicago black tie fundraiser put on by the Junior Council to benefit Children's Memorial Hospital.

Description: Rolling Out the City Carpet intertwines broken glass to build energy and reflect the excitement of living in the hustle and bustle of Chicago. The red color throughout the piece symbolizes support for the AIDS and HIV research and care conducted at the Children's Memorial Hospital and the Children's Memorial Research Center. [Stained glass and acrylic paint on wood, 36in. x 18in.]
