The vibrant colors splash and spread staking their territory on the round palette.

Seema & Tommy, August 2012

Seema & Tommy, August 2012

Made for friends Seema and Tommy to celebrate their wedding day! The piece is inspired by the beautiful wine country of California. Vinyard rows spill through the top of the frame creating waves that tuck under the vibrant green vineyards.  The Golden Gate Bridge sparkles in the top right and Seema and Tommy’s portraits rest against each other in the foreground in the bottom right. Ivy winds around the vineyard greens as a reminder of the beautiful views from the Vine Hill House on their wedding day.

The piece was made on top of a mirror, which shines through some string fused glass (shown in the close-up below) giving the piece another layer of dimension.

The Piano Keys on Fletcher Street, New Orleans

The Piano Keys on Fletcher Street, New Orleans
December 2012

When visiting my sister Amanda in New Orleans, we enjoyed photographing (and pretending to play) the piano outside her house. Pianos, rendered unplayable by the flood, decorated the streets.

When I came across the shutter as a base of a potential piece it triggered the even element of a piano key as I recalled the piano on Fletcher Street. The piece plays the soul and rhythm of New Orleans.
